Tim Magee with Laetiporus cincinnatus

About

I am a postdoctoral researcher at King's College London. I study mirror symmetry for cluster varieties. My collaborators and I are developing a new theory of convex geometry, one in which we consider convexity in the tropicalization of a cluster variety, which is a piecewise linear manifold rather than a vector space. We expect this convex geometry theory to encode the algebraic geometry of compactifications of cluster varieties, in a beautiful generalization of the theory of toric varieties.

I also enjoy foraging for edible mushrooms. I found that lovely Laetiporus cincinnatus specimen in the yard of a family friend in South Jersey, close to where I grew up. It turned into tasty batches of tacos de tinga and chicken of the woods gumbo.
